Online Safety

Fraud is now the most common crime adults in England and Wales experience. Alongside it: accounts stolen and used in our names, and personal details stolen from companies that are required by law to protect the data they collect, and don't invest enough to do it. The tricks change faster than the advice about them, and AI hands criminals new tools: messages without the spelling mistakes we were taught to look for, and a copy of someone's voice from three seconds of audio. They're built by professionals to fool anyone. Our Online Safety Training covers the practical habits that protect you and the people you care about, and what to do if it happens anyway: who to call first, where to report it, and how to claim back what you're owed.

This isn't a reason to stay offline. A handful of habits makes you a much harder target, and knowing what to do afterwards helps with the rest.

Topics we often cover:

Understanding Online Threats: The main types of threat, including malware, phishing, and social engineering, and how to recognise them.

Safe Browsing Practices: Secure websites, suspicious links, and keeping your personal information safe.

Privacy Settings: Setting up social media and other platforms so you control who sees your information.

Secure Password Management: Strong, unique passwords, and managing them so your accounts stay yours.

Safe Online Communication: Keeping conversations private and secure, and spotting scams and fake or malicious contacts.

Protecting Children Online: Keeping children safe online, including parental controls and agreeing rules as a family.

If Something Goes Wrong: Who to call first, how to report fraud and stolen accounts, and your rights to get money back after a scam or claim compensation after a data breach.

Sessions are practical: you work through the kinds of texts, emails, and calls people actually receive, and practise what to do.

And if it has already happened to you: it wasn't your fault, and it's worth reporting. Most people never do, and that silence helps the people behind it.
